A Lifelong Resident Who Works Hard and Gets Results for the Local Community

A lifelong resident of Texas House District 138, Dwayne Bohac was born in Oak Forest and now lives in the Spring Branch area with his wife Dawn and their four children. Before being elected to the Texas House of Representatives, Dwayne was active in the local community having founded “Save Our Neighborhoods,” Northwest Coalition, and is a long time member of the White Oaks Bayou Association and a part of the Spring Branch Revitalization Association.

As State Representative, Dwayne has focused on protecting local neighborhoods and improving local quality of life. In the Texas House, Bohac has worked to improve local flood control efforts through the use of retention ponds, given municipalities greater authority to enforce apartment standards, increased local police patrols, passed tougher laws against graffiti, and secured funds for local traffic mobility and esplanade beautification projects.

Additionally, Bohac has led the effort in the Texas House to cap property tax appraisals at 5% or less, increased funding for border security to curb illegal immigration, and worked with local teachers and school board members to improve local schools and provide fair teacher pay.

For his leadership on issues important to the state and local community, Dwayne has received numerous awards including the “Taxpayers Best Friend” from his colleagues in the Texas House; the statewide “Honor Roll” from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA); and “Best of the House” by the Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas (CLEAT). Bohac has also been honored by the Spring Branch ISD, Houston ISD, and the West Houston Chamber of Commerce for his leadership on public education issues. Additionally, he is co-founder of the Texas House of Representative’s “Air Quality Caucus,” a bi-partisan group committed to finding clean air solutions for Houston and the rest of the state.

A graduate of Scarborough High School, Bohac earned Bachelors Degrees in Political Science and Marketing from Texas A&M University. After graduating with honors, Bohac returned home to start the small retail business that he operates today.

Dwayne and his wife, Dawn, are both active members of Second Baptist Church, along with their four children, Foster, Faith, Sterling and Reagan.
