Bohac Files For Reelection

Houston, TX -- Yesterday, State Representative Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) filed his paperwork with the Harris County Republican Party to run for reelection to House District 138.

A lifelong district resident, Bohac has a strong record of keeping taxes low, job creation, securing the border, improving public education, and protecting the 2nd Amendment and traditional family values.  He’s also focused on improving local quality of life for District 138 through transportation improvements, increased flood control, urban design and intersection esplanade beautification projects and more open recreational spaces.

“It’s been an honor to serve the community in which I grew up, and I look forward to the opportunity to earn the support of my neighbors once again,” said Bohac.  “Working together, we have made West Houston and Northwest Houston a better place to live, work and raise a family.  As State Representative, I will continue to work hard and deliver results on the issues important to our families and our communities.”

Last session, Bohac authored and passed the “Merry Christmas Bill” which allows students and teachers to celebrate traditional winter holidays in public schools without fear of punishment. He also worked to pass a balanced state budget and $1.3 billion in tax relief for Texas citizens and businesses.

For his leadership on issues important to District 138 and the state, Bohac has received numerous awards and recognitions including the “Taxpayers Best Friend” from his colleagues in the Texas House; the statewide “Honor Roll” from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA); the “Best of the House” by the Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas (CLEAT); the “Local Quality of Life Champion” by the West Houston Chamber of Commerce and the "Lone Star Conservative Leader Award" from the Texas Conservative Roundtable.  Bohac has also been recognized by the Spring Branch ISD, Houston ISD, and the Houston Asian Chamber of Commerce for his leadership on public education. Additionally, he is co-founder of the Texas House of Representative’s “Air Quality Caucus,” and Vice-Chair of the Legislative TEA Party Caucus.

A graduate of Scarborough High School, Bohac earned Bachelor's Degrees in Political Science and Marketing from Texas A&M University.  He and his family are active members of Second Baptist Church.
