Republican Dwayne Bohac to File for Re-election to Texas House District 138

HOUSTON—Tomorrow, State Representative Dwayne Bohac will file for re-election to Texas House District 138. The candidate filing period for the 2018 election begins November 11th and ends December 11th. Bohac will file at the Harris County Republican Party Headquarters.

“As a lifelong resident of House District 138, I am very familiar with our district and have always worked to listen to our neighbors and deliver results,” said Bohac. “I am proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish for our district and state, but there’s more to be done. That’s why I will continue to focus on improving local quality of life, keeping our taxes low, improving education, and protecting our shared values.”

During his time in the Texas Legislature, Bohac has made improving local quality of life a top priority. He has also fought for lower taxes and job creation, appraisal caps and property tax reform, public education, and pro-life and pro-family values. 

His accomplishments include:

  • Consistently passing a balanced state budget without raising taxes
  • Co-authoring the state’s Voter ID law
  • Co-authoring legislation to ban sanctuary cities
  • Cracking down on nuisance apartments
  • Increasing funding for retired teachers 
  • Fighting for school finance reform and to end “Robin Hood”
  • Authoring the “Merry Christmas” bill
  • Authoring the state’s annual Sales Tax Holiday for school supplies
  • Lowering taxes on small businesses across Texas

For his accomplishments, Bohac he has received numerous awards and recognition including: “Taxpayer’s Best Friend” by his colleagues in the Texas House; PTA’s Statewide “Honor Roll” for his leadership in public education; “Fighter for Free Enterprise” by the Texas Association of Business; “Conservative Champion” by the Texas Conservative Coalition; and “Local Quality of Life Champion” by the West Houston Chamber of Commerce. 

He has been endorsed for re-election in 2018 by U.S. Congressman Ted Poe, State Senator Paul Bettencourt, Commissioner Steve Radack, Commissioner Jack Cagle, Former Spring Branch ISD Superintendent Duncan Klussmann, Texas Values Action, Texas Right to Life, Texas Alliance for Life, the Houston Police Officers Association, the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association, and the Houston Realty Business Coalition.

Born and raised in District 138, Dwayne graduated from Texas A&M University with honors. He is a local small businessman who is active in his church and the local community.
