Bohac Receives "Courageous Conservative" Award

Houston - This week, State Representative Dwayne Bohac received the "Courageous Conservative" Award from the Texas Conservative Coalition for his resolute leadership during the 82nd Texas Legislature.

The TCC's criteria for the award was based on each legislator's commitment to advance, support and vote for conservative policy positions.  Included in the evaluation was the legislative scorecard, which was based on 174 votes taken during the session.

"Despite a huge budget shortfall entering the session last January, we were able to roll up our sleeves and pass a balanced state budget that maintained essential state services WITHOUT raising taxes," said Bohac.  "We also passed several key pieces of legislation including voter photo ID, a resolution calling for a federal balanced budget amendment, legislation that requires proof of insurance to obtain a Texas driver's license, stronger pro-life legislation, "loser pays" tort reform, and provided more total state funding for public education that in the previous biennium."
