Harris County Disaster Recovery

To Our Friends and Neighbors in Harris County:

Following Governor Greg Abbott's disaster proclamation after the devastating storms and flooding this month, the federal government has granted his request for a federal disaster declaration for four Texas counties, including Harris. The action paves the way for federal recovery assistance to begin flowing into the Houston area. Affected citizens in these counties may be eligible for Individual Assistance grants of up to $33,000 from the federal government, and low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

For those of you that were and continue to be affected, I strongly encourage Harris County residents and business owners who sustained losses during the recent flooding to apply for disaster assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or by a web enabled mobile device at m.fema.gov.

In addition, both Harris County and the City of Houston have established websites to help residents navigate the disaster recovery process, which includes the latest information from FEMA, as well as ways to receive and give help following the flooding. Visit www.readyharris.org and www.houstonrecovers.org for more information.

If you experienced flooding, please make sure to report it to 311. My office will provide additional information as it becomes available.

With more rain on the way this weekend, please stay safe and please utilize the local, state and federal resources that have been made available should you need them.

Sincerely,

Dwayne Bohac
State Representative
District 138
