Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Endorses Dwayne Bohac

Top conservative leader and state’s legal watchdog cites his work with Bohac on some of Texas’ most important issues including the new voter ID law

HOUSTON, TX—Today, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott endorsed State Representative Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) for reelection to the Texas House, District 138.  Abbott and Bohac have worked closely on several key issues including the state’s new voter ID law, which Bohac co-authored.

“I am proud to endorse Dwayne Bohac for reelection to the Texas House of Representatives,” said Abbott.  “We’ve worked together on some of the state’s most important issues including the new voter ID law.  Dwayne is a true conservative leader who works hard and gets results for his community and our state."

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Attorney General Abbott,” said Bohac.  “He’s been a strong advocate for our state, and I strongly support his efforts to uphold our new voter ID law, overturn Obamacare, and protect states’ rights against federal government intrusion.”

In addition to the voter ID law, Bohac’s other accomplishments from the past session include passing a balanced state budget without raising taxes, passing a resolution calling for a federal balanced budget, stronger border security measures, restoring local control to public schools, stronger gun and property owner rights, an extension of the small business tax exemption, and significant pro-life and pro-family laws.

A lifelong resident of House District 138, Bohac has also made improving local quality of life for his district a top priority by cracking down on nuisance apartments, improving local flood control measures, authoring the state’s “School Supplies Sales Tax Holiday”, and fighting for lower taxes and local job creation.

For his leadership, U.S. Congressman John Culberson, U.S. Congressman Ted Poe, State Senator Dan Patrick, Paul Bettencourt, the National Rifle Association (NRA), Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Texas Right to Life, Texans for Lawsuit Reform, the Texas Association of Business and the Harris County Conservative Coalition have endorsed Bohac.  He was also named “Best of the House” by the Combined Law Enforcement Association (CLEAT) for his commitment to protecting law enforcement officers and their families.  (END)
