Houston, TX -- Today, State Representative Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) joined TxDOT officials and elected officials (including northwest Houston representatives Council Member Brenda Stardig and Senator John Whitmire) to cut the ribbon on the new “flyover lane” direct connector which will link inbound 290 at 34th Street with outbound I-10 West near Silber. The lane is scheduled to be open to drivers next week.

Recently, State Rep. Dwayne Bohac met with TxDOT officials to discuss the progress of the 290 expansion project and tour the soon-to-be completed "flyover lane” which will directly link inbound 290 with I-10 East/West.
This 1.4 mile elevated, dedicated lane takes motorists coming inbound from Jersey Village on 290 directly to I-10 and is on track to open this September. A second direct connector, scheduled to open in 2016, will provide motorists traveling inbound from Katy with direct access to both outbound 290 and the eastbound 610 North Loop.

Texas State Representative Dwayne Bohac appeared to also have unresolved questions from the Governor’s announcement. “I wholeheartedly support the Governor placing the National Guard in the Border,” Bohac said. “I support the Governor, and further ask him to call us in to a Special Session. The goal would be twofold: 1. Get our heads around the scope of the problem, and 2. Formulate solutions given the scope. Texas is too important not to do everything we can. The rule of law must prevail....”
