Rep. Bohac Reminds Voters of the 2011 Joint Election in Harris County

HOUSTON-- Early Voting has begun for the 2011 Joint Election in Harris County and will continue through Friday, November 4, 2011.  Election Day is Tuesday, November 8.  This election includes several local cities, school boards, a community college and utility districts, as well as voting on ten proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.  During early voting, all eligible voters can cast their ballot at any of the 37 early voting locations throughout Harris County.  If voters wait until Election Day, they must vote in the precinct listed on their voter registration card.

AUSTIN—The Texas chapter of the free market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-TX) today applauded State Representative Dwayne Bohac (District 138) for signing the group’s Defending the American Dream Pledge.  Bohac joins more than 30 elected officials and candidates across Texas on the federal, state and local levels who are pledging to “support limiting spending growth to population growth plus inflation; creating Emergency and Budget Stabilization funds with excess tax revenue, and returning any tax dollars above the necessary amount back to the taxpayers through tax cuts; and requiring voter or legislative supermajority approval for tax and spending increases.”

I am pleased to announce that Sanctuary City legislation has been added to the agenda for the Special Session.  This bill will put an end to Sanctuary City policies in Texas by making it illegal for municipalities to prevent their local law officers from enforcing state and federal immigration laws.

Bohac Passes Bill that Allows Texans to Fly the American Flag Without Threat of Lawsuit from Homeowner Associations

Legislation was introduced in response to an HOA lawsuit against a Texas Marine Veteran for flying the American flag on his private property

AUSTIN, TEXAS- Today the Texas House of Representative overwhelmingly approved House Bill 2779 by State Representative Dwayne Bohac (R–Houston) that protects the right of Texans to fly the American, Texas, or Armed Services flags on a freestanding flagpole on private property.  The legislation was introduced in response to a lawsuit brought by a property owner's association against Texas Marine Veteran, Mike Merola, for flying the American flag from a freestanding pole at his home.
