Early voting is now underway and runs through Friday, November 2nd. During this period, you can vote at ANY Harris County early voting location, so make plans to vote at a location nearest you. The race for House District 138 has become one of the most competitive races in the state. This election could be decided by 1,000 votes or less, so plan to get out and vote early! Dwayne is counting on your support.

Volunteer Opportunities This Week

Early voting has started and we need your help to get out the vote! The Harris County Republican Party (HCRP) is running volunteer phone banks and block walks out of their Westside Office throughout the final days of the election. Team Bohac is also looking for supporters to work the early voting locations around HD 138 daily between now and November 2nd, and again on Election Day, November 6th. If you have some time to volunteer, come out to help Representative Dwayne Bohac and our other Republican candidates win this election.

Fighting for Our Local Public Schools

Representative Bohac is fighting for increased funding for public education, retired teachers and teacher salaries and is working with parents, teachers and local school board members to improve and strengthen public education. He supports abolishing the failing “Robin Hood” school finance scheme so that our local school tax dollars stay in our districts and wants to limit standardized testing and stop forcing teachers to “teach to the test”.

With the start of the new school year around the corner, State Representative Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) reminds families and shoppers to take advantage of our state's annual sales tax holiday this weekend, August 10-12. The three-day sales tax holiday exempts Texas shoppers from paying sales and use taxes on most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100.

REMINDER: Buffalo Bayou and Barker Reservoir Watershed Community Engagement Meetings on HCFCD Bond Program Next Week

The Harris County Commissioners Court plans to call a flood control district bond election for August 25, 2018—the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey. Registered voters in Harris County will be asked to vote on $2.5 billion in bonds for flood risk reduction projects throughout the county. Community Engagement Meetings began in June, including ones for the Addicks Reservoir and White Oak Bayou watersheds that affect District 138. Next week, the meetings for the Buffalo Bayou and Barker Reservoir watersheds are being held on July 30th and August 1st.
