Bohac Announces Capitol Staff Assignments

81st Legislative Session Now Underway

AUSTIN, TEXAS–State Rep. Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) is pleased to announce his Capitol staff for the 81st Legislative Session which convened Jan. 13th.

Manny Salazar will replace Patrick Gurski in the role of chief of staff. Salazar served as Rep. Bohac’s Legislative Director during the 80th session in 2007. Prior to that, he served the Texas House of Representatives as a legislative intern to Rep. Elvira Reyna. Manny was born in Kingsville and graduated from Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a degree in Political Science.

District Director Kay Clinton will continue serving the district while temporarily in Austin for the session. Kay has been a proud Houstonian for 30 years and has served in the capacity of District Director for four years. Prior to joining Rep. Bohac’s staff, she worked for six years in former Tax Assessor-Collector Paul Bettencourt’s office.

Shana Gooch will join the staff this session and serve as the administrative aide. Gooch has previously worked for former San Antonio City Councilman Roland Gutierrez, former County Commissioner Cynthia White and Congressman Michael Burgess, MD. Shana was born in San Antonio and graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Political Science.

Back home in the district, Lois Stromberg and Wes Krueger will continue to serve as local neighborhood liaisons. They maintain a vital link to the district as the eyes and ears of the representative while he is away in Austin. Lois has lived in the Spring Branch community for over 30 years, while Wes has lived in the Oak Forest area for nearly 50 years.

“Having been born and raised in the district, I am honored that the people of District 138 are allowing me to continue to serve them in the Texas House of Representatives. My staff plays a key role in helping me provide outstanding service to folks in our great community” Bohac said. “I believe that I have surrounded myself with talented, motivated and caring professionals who will work hard on behalf of everyone in the district.”

The 81st Legislative Session began January 13, 2009 and will last until June 1, 2009. This session Rep. Bohac will file bills that provide property tax relief, reform the appraisal process, require photo I.D. to vote, strengthen public education, and crackdown on problem apartment owners.
