Bohac Named “Defender of Life” by Texas Right to Life

HOUSTON-- State Representative Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) was recently recognized by Texas Right to Life as a 2011 “Defender of Life” at the organization's Celebration of Life event in Houston.  During the event, Rep. Bohac was also honored for his "Perfectly Pro-life" record for the 82nd Legislature.

This was the organization's 14th Annual Celebration of Life event and was attended by more than 750 members, guests and Pro-Life leaders from across the state.  The event's theme was to acknowledge the accomplishments of the most recent legislative session.

“Texas Right to Life is pleased and honored that Representative Dwayne Bohac consistently stands with us on our efforts to protect the sanctity of innocent human life," Texas Right to Life Director Elizabeth Graham said.  "The Pro-Life cause is near and dear to Representative Bohac’s heart, and his convictions are manifest in his actions, always achieving a Pro-Life voting record in the State House.  We are proud to count Dwayne as one of our most Pro-Life legislators.”

"It is an honor to be recognized by such an important organization," Rep. Bohac said.  "The work that Texas Right to Life does on behalf of Life issues is truly remarkable, and members of the Texas Legislature could not do their job as effectively without their guidance.  I look forward to continuing our work together in the Texas House."

On November 2, 2010, Representative Dwayne Bohac was overwhelmingly re-elected to a fifth-term to represent House District 138.  Rep. Bohac is a proud, lifelong resident of the district who has focused on improving local quality life.  During the 82nd Legislature, Bohac helped pass a balanced state budget without raising taxes, a resolution calling for a federal balanced budget amendment, voter photo ID legislation, legislation that requires proof of citizenship to obtain a Texas drivers license, stronger pro-life legislation, loser pays tort reform, and secured an additional $1.6 billion for public education funding.
