Fighting for Our Local Public Schools

Representative Bohac is fighting for increased funding for public education, retired teachers and teacher salaries and is working with parents, teachers and local school board members to improve and strengthen public education. He supports abolishing the failing “Robin Hood” school finance scheme so that our local school tax dollars stay in our districts and wants to limit standardized testing and stop forcing teachers to “teach to the test”.

Governor Abbott Appoints Rep. Dwayne Bohac to Education Commission of the States

Governor Greg Abbott recently announced his appointment of Representative Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) to the Education Commission of the States, along with three other appointees. The Governor appoints the Texas delegation of the national compact commission, led by Commissioner of Texas Education Agency Mike Morath and Commissioner of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Raymund Paredes.

Representative Dwayne Bohac Presents Ornament Designed by Local High School Student for Texas House Christmas Tree

Representative Dwayne Bohac (Houston) is pleased to present the House District 138 ornament that was hung on the Christmas tree in the Texas House Chamber this week. Every year around Christmas, state legislators from all 150 House Districts choose an organization, school or individual to design an ornament for the official Texas House Christmas Tree. The ornaments, representing the culture and personality of each district, are hung throughout the season on the tree. Rep. Bohac selects a different high school in the district each year to submit the official HD 138 ornament.

Bohac Names Honorary Pages for 85th Session

Representative Dwayne Bohac (Houston-District 138) is pleased to announce the names of the students who will be serving as Honorary Pages during the 85th Legislative Session at the Texas State Capitol. The Honorary Pages will accompany the Full-Time Pages to interface with other Representatives and staff on the House floor and around the Capitol complex. They will receive an official badge and photo to keep as a remembrance of their special day.
